AKASH ARORA AGAINST STUFF

Case Number: 3027

Council Meeting: MAY 2021

Decision: No Grounds to Proceed

Publication: Stuff

Ruling Categories: Court Reporting
Privacy

Overview

Akash Arora, a contractor for New Zealand Couriers, complained about a story in Stuff on March 23, 2021, which reported a court case in which he pleaded guilty to the theft of 89 parcels.

He said the article was published without his permission. It was false and had affected his life and family a lot and the publicity meant he could not find a job. He asked for the item to be deleted by Stuff.

This was a straightforward report of court proceedings. He did not point to any error or breach of Media Council principles. If Mr Arora disputes the evidence or court findings, then his remedy is an appeal, not the Media Council.

There are no grounds for this complaint.
